New Viking Bordeaux Cruise

New Viking Bordeaux Cruise

Viking River Cruises is providing guests with more options than ever before in 2014 as they prepare for the unprecedented launch of their FOURTEEN new Viking Longships in March.

With all the new vessels - which will bring their fleet total to a market-leading 30 - there are new itineraries, too, and the latest one that they have highlighted is a new Rivers of Aquitaine route in Bordeaux.

Called Heart of Bordeaux, the itinerary begins in Bordeaux and its historic UNESCO World Heritage port on the Garonne River, staying overnight. The new Viking Forseti will then set sail for the Gironde River the next morning, docking at Pauillac for an afternoon wine country tour that features several tasting opportunities, including the famous Margaux wines.

Next stop is Blaye (for the Cognac region), before going on to Libourne, Cadillac and then returning to Bordeaux.

In fact, this could even be called the Wine-Lover's Fantasy, as it goes on to highlight the vineyards of Saint-Émilion, Pomerol, Sauternes and Médoc we well as Margaux, showcasing why Bordeaux wines have been so popular for so long.

The new itinerary begins on March 22 and costs from £1,595 but beware - many dates are already sold out! The 8-day voyage includes 7 nights on the Viking Forseti, all meals, 6 guided shore excursions (with 3 UNESCO World heritage sites), port charges, taxes and fuel surcharges, flights, free Wi-Fi aboard and wine, beer and soft drinks on board with lunch and dinner.
